We got some new Flair for the bus tonight from some of our friends at AIR Camp Vancouver.
Vancouver Bumper Sticker on Bus
I didn’t get the name of who gave these to us, but thanks for helping deck out the bus. We had a great time in Vancouver, and appreciate everyone hanging out at the event in the heat.

Edward Mansouri of AirApps.net has put together a really cool mash-up of the location data from the tour. He has mapped the path of the tour, and plays it back over time, showing the time and temperature of the bus during the drive up the west coast.
Ive actually started seeing a bunch of cool stuff being done with the APIs, and we are going to put together a showcase page on the site over the next couple of days. If you have built anything with the APIs, either web or AIR based, then post it in the comments so we can include them on the showcase page.

The bus is finally on its way, on the first leg of the on AIR Bus Tour. We left this morning around 6:30 AM and are about 2 hours north of San Francisco right now. Scoble is broadcasting on the live video feed, Ryan is playing guitar hero, and everyone else is working on code.
We pushed a new version of the homepage, that maps the images and twitters from the tour, a live video feed from the bus, and a ton of new APIs for the bus, including location data, and a geo-encoded twitter feed.

Just a quick note, but if you upload any images, videos or other content for the bus tour, make sure to tag it with the following tag:
onairbustour
That will make it easy to search for content from the events. Also, check each city’s event page to find the city specific tag.

We need some help tagging the bus with bumper stickers for all of the cities where we are holding AIR camps. If you are attending one of the AIR camps we are holding over the next couple of weeks, you can help us out by bringing us a bumper sticker for the city we are in. We will pick the best ones and slap them on the back of the bus.
Danny Dura, Kevin Hoyt and myself have been working on a new Adobe AIR book, which has just been published. The book, which is published by O’Reilly, is titled Adobe Integrated Runtime for JavaScript Developers Pocketguide and provides an introduction to Adobe AIR, targeted at HTML and JavaScript developers.
Not only can you buy it from Amazon, but Ajaxian.com has posted the entire book online for download.
Download PDF of bookThe book is released under a creative commons license, and we will also be posting it on labs for download.
I just posted on the on AIR Bus Tour weblog that we have opened up the code repository for the tour. We will be posting all of the applications for the tour here and have already included two:

In one of the projects I am working one with the Adobe AIR bus tour, I had a need to serialize instance of File class to the file system. Normally you can do this with File.writeObject(), but as the player serializer / de-serializer does not know about the File class, this would not work for me.
I came up with a simple solution that I wanted to share. Basically, you need to extend the File class and provide the meta data for it to tell the player how to serialize and de-serialize the class. This will then allow it to be serialized to the file system.
I just checked in some changes from Owen Van Dijk that enable upload support in the Flickr ActionScript 3 library.
The changes have not been added to the release SWC yet, so if you want to use it, you need to grab the source from subversion and link to that.
You can find more information here, and see the original bug report here.
If you run into any issues, or have any questions, then either log an issue, or post to the mailing list.
Just a quick fyi, but I just made a post over on the on AIR Bus tour blog about some of the GPS / Location / AIR App / API testing we are doing for the bus tour.
I think it is some pretty cool stuff, and it is definitely a LOT of fun.
