Serge Jesper’s has made a couple of blog posts about his session on Deploying, Signing and Updating AIR applications from the on AIR Tour in Europe.
The video of Serge’s session should be on the tour video blog in the next couple of days.
I have been working on a JavaScript AIR app for the past week or so while on the on AIR Tour in Europe, and ran into the need to Base64 encode some data. I knew that there were some JavaScript libraries that did this, and I could also create a SWF library that used the Flex Base64Encoder class. However, I didn’t like either of these solutions as I was concerned about performance with using a JavaScript implementation, and didn’t want to hassle with creating a SWF library to link into JavaScript.
I am in Europe right now for leg 2 of the on AIR Tour in Europe. We have been having a great time, and a lot of fun at the events. I have posted a review of week 3 over on the on AIR Tour blog, which you can read here.

Just a couple of notes for today’s on AIR Tour in Event in Prague.
The entrance for the event is through the brewery restaurant, which is just to the left of the main entrance.
Dion Almaer from Google has joined the tour and will be talking about Google App Engine and Adobe AIR.
Finally, at the break before the last session (Lee Brimelow’s) they brewery is going to open up the taps, and we will have an extended beer break.

We have just wrapped up week three of the on AIR Tour in Europe, and are currently resting / recuperating in Prague. The week was a huge success and we had great turnouts at all of the events (Stockholm, Berlin, Warsaw). As usual, the highlight was meeting all of the developers in each city.
Here is a quick overview of the week.
We started the second leg of the tour in Stockholm, with most of us arriving on Saturday. We had amazing weather, and got a chance to see the city on Sunday.
I am in Stockholm today for the on AIR Tour in Europe, and one of the new items of schwag we have is a printed copy of the Adobe RIA AS3 reference guide.

We will be giving these out at all of the on AIR Tour Events in Europe.
Just a quick note, but it looks like a bug in Firefox 3 (soon to be released) will break some existing Flash content. Specifically, it looks like it breaks onKeyUp events in Flash.
You can find more info, and view the bug here.
Unfortunately, it does not look like they will fix this for the 3.0 release, but may fix it in the first 3.0 update.
UPDATE : Mozilla decided to fix the issue (woot!), and has posted a new build. Make sure to check out the build and test your content.
Since the first leg of the European on AIR Tour wrapped up, I have had some time to take some time and research / play around with some new technologies. In particular, I have been looking into the HTML 5 draft spec, as well as some of the work that Google has been doing with Google Gears.
One thing I have been watching closely around the HTML 5 draft is the implementation of the VIDEO element / tag. This is basically a tag that would allow browsers to implement video support. However, at least based on the current draft, there is no requirement that browsers support the same codecs. From the spec:
