Fast-Forwarding Songs on iPod

Thursday, April 29, 2004

This may be obvious to most people, but it was a revelation to me. I listen to the BBC’s World Today News on my way to work (a 45 minute walk). It is an hour long MP3, and thus if for some reason I have to stop the MP3, I have to restart it from the beginning.

However, yesterday, I accidentally discovered that you can fast-forward through songs / content on the iPod. While the song is playing, just click the middle button on the iPod. This will change the bar on the bottom to a diamond, and now you can use the scroll-wheel to fast-forward or rewind through the song. Just click the middle button again to switch the bar back to value control.

I look on Apple’s site and couldn’t find any info describing this. Now you don’t need to be afraid of starting to listen to that audio book of War and Peace.
