FOTB Slides : Advanced Desktop Development with Adobe AIR

with 22 comments

I am in Brighton for Flash on the Beach 2009 (amazing conference as usual). I gave a presentation on Adobe AIR yesterday, titled “Advanced Desktop Development with Adobe AIR“, which went well. I covered how to accomplish and approach a number of development tasks when working with AIR, and also talked about a couple of new features that we are working on.

I have posted the slides for the session, which you can grab from here.

You can find most of the libraries and code I discussed on the as3corelib library page (look in the com.adobe.air package).

Marc Hibbins has notes on the session here.

  13. When it is said about AIR 2.0, that programs that can execute native process must be distributed as native installer and not AIR files, does that mean we will be able to embed AIR Runtime in our applications? That would be a great news.

  21. Hi Mike,

That’s great mike. Presentation is awesome.

“Archive Objects directly to File system”: Previously I had implemented direct access of archived objects through fzip. I am eager to see “Archive Objects directly to File system”.

“CommandProxy”: This would rock but still developer would need to use workarounds to make application workable on Win, Mac, and Linux.

And finally, AIR developers and ADOBE should not forget Linux now.
