Getting Started with Adobe AIR on Linux (Video)

with 13 comments

I have just posted a video over at gotoandlearn.com that walks through how to get AIR applications running on Linux using the Adobe AIR for Linux Alpha.

The video covers:

  • Installing Adobe AIR
  • Downloading and Installing AIR applications
  • Uninstalling AIR applications

Here are some of the links mentioned in the video:

I am planning on doing another video shortly, showing how to build, test and deploy AIR application on Linux, using both Flex, Flex Builder for Linux and HTML.

You can view the video here.

  1. [...] I continue to be happy about Adobe’s support for Linux. As more applications move into the browser with HTML or the Flash Player and to the desktop with AIR it makes it easier to switch. Mike Chambers just posted a really good screencast on how to get started with AIR on Linux. [...]

  5. Mike, is it ever possible to install Air on a 64-bit Ubuntu Hardy? Looks like the installer doesn’t have 64-bit support.

  8. I’m annoyed with the status of Flex Builder on Linux. I have a valid FB 3 serial number that I am *not* using on any other machines, and I applied that to the FB alpha on my Linux machine. The alpha still timed out on me. I realize it’s alpha, but if I’m willing to use it in alpha state and have a valid serial number, it’s annoying I can’t do that.
