Hi Mike,

Some countries like mine, Nigeria, were left out in the list. Why is that?

Kim,

I always like to learn that someone teaches kids programming. You are not limited to Microsoft scripting though. Get my free e-book on teaching kids Java over here: http://www.faratasystems.com/?page_id=69

Java + Flex is a killer combo

Mike--

This is really awesome news! Having worked with bright kids as young as 13 who wanted to start programming, but were limited to essentially Microsoft scripting (not that that's an entirely bad thing), this move by Adobe is really the right thing to do. I'm hoping this goes a long way towards encouraging the next generation of programmers and visual designers to dig into the RIA toolset and imagine the possibilities. After all, if there's one job that will be in high demand when today's students enter the workforce it will be those that wed data to interface design and visualization. Flex obviously gives them another avenue where they can think and create and explore.

Kudos to Adobe for looking toward the future and making it easier for emerging programmers to get ready for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
