Tweetr : Sweet Apollo Based Twitter Application
Twitter really began to take off right before we launch the Apollo alpha. At the time, it seemed that everyone (myself included), was creating an Apollo based Twitter client. I tried them all out, as well as some non-Apollo clients, but none of them really felt right, and I ended up not using them.
Yesterday, I stumbled upon Tweetr (I think I saw it from one of Scoble’s tweets), and have been using constantly since I found it. I can’t really put my finger on why I like this one so much more than all the other Twitter apps, but I think it has something to do with the simple UI, ease of use, and application focus (it just does Twitter and does it well).

Btw, Tweetr has the distinction of a couple of firsts for an Apollo application:
- First Apollo Application that made it to the front of digg
- First Apollo application that I set to automatically run when my computer starts
OK, so the second one is not that big of a distinction.
Anyways, if you use Twitter, make sure to check it out.

Mike, Glad you like Tweetr, I have got a lot of really positive feedback about it. I must say that Apollo is so cool in the way it works, I create an .air file and it just works on both Mac and PC without any issues at all. So many users have installed it without any issues (only one friend had an issue that Apollo did not associate itself with .air files but he fixed that quickly).
I do have a question though, is why cannot I not create 2 instance’s of an Apollo application, when I try for example to open a second instance of Tweetr it fails silently. I thought this may be a real good way to support user with multiple Twitter accounts, just open a second Tweetr window.
Really looking forwards to the alpha2 or beta of Apollo. Have had a lot of requests for system tray support and would love to be able to get the response headers of a request (can only set them). My twitter steam is http://www.twitter.com/sponno which is mainly Flash/Flex/Apollo, if you are interested.

I am about to start a multi-year project that will use Flex as the presentation layer technology. However I find it difficult to find any contacts at Adobe to help build the business case for using Flex. Please let me whom I need to contact.
Thanks,

Yeah. Only a single instance of Apollo applications can be run at a time. This was a design decision.
However, this does not mean that you cannot support multiple tweetr accounts / windows. You can listen for InvokeEvents:
http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Apollo:Documentation:Capturing_command-line_arguments
and then simply launch new native windows with different Tweetr accounts.
Hope that helps…
