Beta Macromedia Resource 1.0 RSS Feed

with 7 comments

We are considering publishing an RSS resource feed along with our current XML resource feed. I have published a beta of the feed, and would appreciate any feedback on it. The current beta is RSS 1.0 using the Dublin Core (dc) module.

Is this something that would be useful? Are there any bugs in the feed? Do you want any additional information? Have I formatted the date field correctly? Post you thoughts and suggestions in the comments.

You can access the feed here.

Note, this is a beta, and thus the URL may change, or the feed may not work at times.

  1. I think its pretty useful. I think it would be more useful if the items had a description though.

Thanks to Claus for giving me this when developing the feed for my blog tracker check out:

According to the site you are good to go. Except for the decl not being on the first line, but thats easy to fix and doesn’t really matter.

  2. I think it’s very useful. I’d use it to keep up with content that I’d otherwise most likely pass over.

  3. RSS has definitely changed how I surf. Information that updates fairly regularly just makes sense through an RSS feed. I’m a huge Net News Wire fan (http://www.ranchero.com/), as it sits right next to Chimera pretty much all day long updating me on the happenings round the ‘Net.

This is a positive development and one that I’ll definitely be tapping into.

  4. Couldn’t agree more! I’m adding the feed to NetNewswire right away – very curious what the beta will bring.

  6. Looks pretty OK in newzcrawler too. Too bad I don;t get descriptions before I can clickthrough to the website. but other than that, works like a charm. Question: Why are the DesDev articles itself not “weblogstylee”, for instance with the opportunity to react?

  7. I use NewsGator (http://www.rassoc.com/gregr/weblog/) because it is a plug in for Microsoft Outlook and means I only have to keep one program open instead of 2. You get all the convenience of Outlook filters too. The rss feed works great in NewsGator.
